Description

Pinkwashing is a PR tactic used by the Israeli government – it seeks to cynically exploit support for LGBT people by presenting Israel as modern, democratic and LGBT-friendly, so diverting attention from Israel’s human rights crimes against the Palestinians.

The massacre in Gaza has exposed the reality in Palestine for millions of people. We need to stand in solidarity with Palestine, and to undermine Israeli pinkwashing propaganda.

This meeting will be a chance to hear about the issues from international speakers.

Ghadeer an activist from Aswat: Palestinian Gay Women, will talk about the Palestinian LGBT Movement and the fight of LGBT activists as a struggle for human rights, justice and Freedom to all Palestinians. She will further address Pinkwashing as one the grandest on-going Brand Israel Campaigns and the latest use of Pinkwashing and gendered violence in its murderous assault on Gaza.

Sarah Schulman is an activist based in New York and the author of “Israel/Palestine and the Queer International” will discuss solidarity activity in the United States and responding to the Palestinian call for an academic and cultural boycott of Israel.

Activists from London-based groups will share experiences of our campaigning in Britain.
